Canadian Content, A Thing of the Past
After 15 years on and off at CHEX television as a camera operator I developed a love for local content and how much a local television station means to a town. Part of my decision to move to Hamilton was CHCH television which always seemed to have a great connection to it's community with it's local news and, of course, Matt Hayes the weather personality that is so incredibly funny and witty. Matt worked at CHEX when I was there and I always looked forward to working with him. He was an excellent reporter always adding his brand of humour to stories and he was just as funny off camera. For many years Peterborough had Peter Fialkowski as a weather man and Graham Hart as the news Anchor and with Matt's reports as well as some of the other fine reporters it was a newscast that made you feel like they were family. My parents were great fans and so was I.
Through my 12 years in London I really never got too attached to the NEW PL. They had their moments but not like CHEX.
The CHCH newscast has been quite good since I moved here in September but the other programming was a real lunch bag let down.
